Players earn points for each event. Point totals are determined by where you place on the leaderboard. Here is how that works:
Your points are determined by where you place in each event, using this formula:
"Pool Size" is the number of players that are in your group. The player who wins the pool gets the full points for the pool size plus a 50% bonus. Scoring for the entire group works like this: In a pool with 25 people, the winner gets 25 points plus a 12.5 point bonus. Second place you get 24 points, third place you get 23 points, etc... Points on the public leaderboard are scored in the same way. Scoring for each pool is separate based on the amount of people in your pool.
Each event style is scored a little differently — here's how each one works.
Every correct pick is worth double the round before it (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 points) as the bracket advances. Whoever in the pool racks up the highest bracket total wins the pool.
Pick a side for every announced pairing. Each correct pairing is worth 1 point. Whoever in the pool gets the most pairings right wins the pool.
Build a 6-player roster, one pick per tier. Each of your players' furthest round reached awards points on the same doubling scale as Bracket (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 points per player), added together. Highest total in the pool wins.
Same 6-player roster idea, but scored like golf itself: your total is your 6 players' combined strokes-to-par, and lower wins. If one of your picks misses the cut, their score freezes right there and a fixed penalty is added on top.
There's no single pool "winner" for horse racing. Instead, everyone in the pool who picked the actual winning horse is awarded points at the same time, using:
Favorite Rank is the order where each horse's odds are slated to win the race (1st favorite, 2nd favorite, and so on) — so picking a longshot that comes through awards more than picking the favorite. Each person that correctly predicts the winner gets the full point total added to their yearly score.
For Bracket, Tiers, and Matchups events, it's possible for two or more people in a pool to land on the exact same score — at any place in the standings, not just 1st. When that happens, we fall back to a tiebreaker question — a single numeric guess you submit alongside your picks (for example, "total combined points scored in the final"). Within each tied group, whoever guessed closest to the real outcome gets the better place, next-closest gets the next place, and so on, so every tied member still ends up with a distinct place and point total.
Horse Racing never needs a tiebreaker, since every correct picker is awarded together rather than competing for placement.
Any group's owner can flip on an optional 1.25× majors bonus from the group's page. When it's on, every placement in your group's pool on one of the 9 major events (see below) is worth 1.25 times the usual points — not just 1st place. For example, in a 25-person pool with the bonus on, 2nd place normally earns 24 points, so it becomes 30 points (24 × 1.25) — and every other placement scales up the same way. It has zero effect on anyone else's group, and it never touches the Global Leaderboard.
These are the only events that count toward the free Global Leaderboard — and the only ones a group's majors bonus can apply to. Every other event on the slate is still fully scored, just group-only.
